Introduction

  • WordPress allows authors to assign custom fields to a post. This extra information is known as metadata.
  • With extra coding, you can use the metadata for complex actions.
  • Metadata is handled with key/value pairs.
    • key: The name of the metadata element.
    • ValueL: Information that will appear in the metadata list on each individual post that the information associated with.

Usage

  • After you have written your post, scroll down yo the area Custom Fields.
  • Add new custom field and assign a value to it.
  • You only need to create a new key once.
