How Search Engines Work
A robot or a spider is a small program that gets your site's content and sends it to the server to be analyzed. This is referred as crawling.
When a web surfer enters a search keyword or a search keyphrase the search engines uses a secret algorithm, called search ranking algorithm to sort the results and return them to the search page.
